After working as a certified nursing assistant at a nursing home and Carney Hospital, Taniqua Furtick wanted to do more for her patients. 鈥淭here are so many things to do while working as a CNA, which gives me the kind of experience I feel like I would need for nursing,鈥� says Furtick. Now, enrolled in the associate鈥檚 degree in nursing as an evening student Furtick is able to combine both her healthcare background and her classroom knowledge about nursing to enhance her work. 鈥淚 help take care of patients and I help the nurses, as well. I take vital signs, I check patients glucose, I feed patients, I bathe, patients, I pretty much help anyone and everyone who needs help,鈥� says Furtick. 

The multi-faceted approach to teaching and learning through technology like the simulation lab at 修车论坛茅 help her prepare to care for her patients. 鈥淚 like skills lab. I learn better when I do things hands on and 修车论坛茅 gives me the opportunity to do that,鈥� says Furtick. 鈥淎nd I chose 修车论坛茅 because it was convenient, flexible, and accelerated compared to the other schools I looked at. It also has a great reputation,鈥� says Furtick. 

Furtick is becoming a nurse for the same reason as the nurses before her. 鈥淚 like helping people feel better, and making sure they are taken care of. It feels good to know you've helped someone feel better.鈥�
